A Design Manifesto

TD Media creates designs that produce results. Our creative work is intended to attract a distinct audience and lead them to a particular action. We judge the value of design by its functionality and its effectiveness at achieving results.

Result-based design must consider both the aesthetic and the functional. A gorgeous Flash web site that can not be found using relevant search engine queries is no better than the highly optimized web site that distracts visitors with meaningless text. Both will fail to best achieve results.

A clear understanding of the intended audience, the specific goals, and the exact metrics that will determine a successful outcome are required before a result-based design process can be initiated.

Design without consideration of results is just art. Art sits on a wall and may or may not affect those who view it. Ultimately "art" does not provide a quantitative measurement of effectiveness. This is fine in a purely creative endeavor but can be expensive and unproductive in a business setting.
